Went Thursday left car at home used tram £3:90 return can't moan at all got off at Sheffield uni stop and walked up loads more easier than driving around for a space

Use the tram my advise every time

Many thanks. There is actually a bus stop for 120 near my house, which goes directly to RHH, and I will definitely take the public transport next time for a hassle-free visit.

When you have 4 hospitals and a major university within such a small geographical area, there will never be enough car parking spaces.

Completely agree. My question is why NHS not divert some simple services like blood test to local medical centres. I was there merely for a blood test, which took about 10 minute including the waiting time, but one hour on the return journey plus another half an hour looking for a car park.

I believe it is all to do with funding and of the inability of GP's to cope with their workload.

It truly is ridiculous that patients have to trail to RHH or NGH simply for a blood test that would take a few minutes to do at their local GP surgery.

Some time ago I had to take my daughter to the Dental Hospital every 6 weeks for over 10 years - I always chose an early appointment so I could easily park in RHH car park. If her appointment was later we used public transport - it was still quicker than driving around for hours trying to find a parking space.

For anyone living near the NGH there is a shuttle bus every 30 minutes from NGH to RHH and back - think it cost £1 - free for anyone with NHS ID.

I think that everything is centralised so it's cheaper to run.

Permit holders only, its a fricking joke. If you can afford to buy a property up there then you should expect people to park in your spot when your at work duh.

*Northern General, Royal Hallamshire, Jessop Wing,Weston Park and Charles Clifford Dental Hospitals- Not Childrens'.

Bus stops along the route to pick up and set down. i.e. Barnsley Road, Herries Road, Penistone Road and Brook Hill.

Certainly not true that the Hallamshire is the ONLY hospital to consider for specialised ophthalmic care. I have had treatment there but declined on the second occasion because of the transport hassles.

I received outstanding care and treatment at Chesterfield Hospital Eye Clinic -simple to get there by car and no parking problems.

Very true.

This is the reason why I chose to give birth to my third child there - and that was almost 24 years ago - nothing much has changed.

I've spent some half an hour this morning driving around the hospital for a parking bay, as the multi-storey one was full. I've been driving up and down the Collegiate Crescent, and was only lucky enough to find one on Park Lane on my 4th round.

I bet Q Park or NCP could make a fortune by building one just next to the hospital.

I once nearly missed an appointment due to the car park being full so I now use the tram and bus did hallamshire/stocksbridge and back this morning in two hours.

  • 3 weeks later...

The new car park opened this week.

Its not been that busy yet so possibly people haven't realised. You have to enter it from the Glossop Road end as Durham Road is still closed off. I guess itll get more busy as the University starts to bulid on some of the small car parks dotted around
