LeMaquis
I reckon after the West saved the world during WW11 we will be dependant, at some time in the future, for Russia and Eastern Europe to save us.. The Russians did most of the fighting in WW2.
JFKvsNixon
No, they did most of the dying. Inefficiency in warfare is not something to celebrate or we'd all be asking johny muslim for his secrets. Why are you conveniently ignoring the fact that the Soviets fought and defeated the majority of the German armed forces?
LeMaquis
No, they did most of the dying. If I'd wanted a reply like that I'd have asked a psychopath. ---------- Post added 10-03-2016 at 21:52 ---------- Inefficiency in warfare...... Like Dunkirk? Gordonb
Do we assume that the USA is applying pressure on Europe to admit Turkey as a) they have miltary bases there and b) if Europe doesn't admit them then maybe Russia might want to offer the hand of friendship. Not quite sure what we have in common with Turkey to want to be part of the same trading block as them but that also applies to countries like Bulgaria, Romania etc.

Their rivalry goes back a long time.

Eric Arthur
The Russians did most of the fighting in WW2. Between 1941 and 1945. WW2 started in 1939. They might have been late, after first being on Germany's side, then being neutral, then being attacked by Germany and Finland, but they certainly provided a lot of cannon fodder. Eventually. ---------- Post added 11-03-2016 at 07:54 ---------- Serve in the catering corps, did we? Don't reduce yourself to such berkery in public. Eric Arthur
The Americans came in after the Russians did. Maybe they didn't do much fighting either. Imagine how many tens of millions wouldn't have died if the USA and Russia had followed Britain's lead in 1939 and stood up to Germany's European takeover plan. Don't knock army cooks either. Napoleon said that an army marches on it's stomach. Mind you, that time we had to beat France's European takeover plan so maybe we had better army cooks.
