999tigger
Why would we or the EU want to make trade either way more difficult? ---------- Post added 06-03-2016 at 16:47 ---------- If we left the EU we would be non EU citizens. You really need to go back to the beginning rather than jumping in half way through and taking things out of context.
foxy lady
Because imposition of borders makes it slower and less efficient to move around. If you have to go through passport control and have your goods cleared at each border that takes time and costs money. You've perhaps never been abroad. You need to go through passport control to enter or leave the UK. Always have done.
sutty27
So what? You seem to specialise in making irrelevant points. We arent talking about non eu citizens. Countering your inaccurate point with accurate information isn't irrelevant, most of the British people that emigrate don't go to other EU countries. 999tigger
Many British people invest and buy property in EU countries, France, Spain, Portugal etc, while many EU citizens come and live here 10 people to a rented household ! So people dont come and buy property in the UK? ---------- Post added 06-03-2016 at 16:50 ---------- Countering your inaccurate point with accurate information isn't irrelevant. Which point was inaccurate? You havent countered anything. ---------- Post added 06-03-2016 at 16:51 ---------- You've perhaps never been abroad. 999tigger
The point I countered with accurate figures. Explain it then. You never source the figures you use.

I1L2T3
If we come out of the EU, how will it change our immigration policy? For the past 2 elections the Conservatives have tried to keep net immigration below 100,000; they have failed miserably. In 2014 they let in over 400,000 people from outside the EU, so the failure to meet the less than 100,000 target has nothing to do with being in the EU. Can we have free trade, without free movement of people? I believe that the Conservatives let immigration rise, because it make it look like our economy is growing, and it keeps wages down. People from this country, and others, travel all over the world, can we really stop people coming to the UK? The other angle is that the Conservatives are essentially the political wing of British business. British business demanded non-EU immigration and the Conservatives delivered. They delivered even though it meant they could not keep to their pledges. Non-EU immigration is totally controllable, but the Conservatives (and Labour before them) failed to control it.
