florence kat
We have an old television Sony Trinitron Colour TV, model KV - 24LS35U, which produces an exceedingly poor, dull picture. It is being replaced. What do I do with the old one? Can anyone make use of any of it? Advice, please.

Sometimes artists makes use of these, so you could email the University departments/local art spaces. Failing that, are a UK company delivering you the new TV? If so, they often take the old one as part of the Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) regulations. I don't think they have to take it though, in which case you'd need to drop it down to one of the Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs), which have cages for electrical items. Or you could take it to a dedicated WEEE recycler, like Glitterballs has linked to above. ... "Historic WEEE implies equipment placed on the market prior to 2005 and the WEEE directive places the onus upon the owner of the equipment to make provisions for its recycling. Where equipment was placed on the market after 2005, it is known as non-historic WEEE (denoted by a bar underneath the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol), and it is the responsibility of the producer/distributor to make provisions for its collection and recycling."
