Where did we go wrong?

And more to the point, how do we put it right?

The wrong dream of Capitalism

Visioning a new post-capitalism world :)

Building relations with the people around you

Leading by example

(I may have more later....)

They wanted to free their own country from the tyranny of British rule, and in that they succeeded.

They also now happen to have more millionaires per capita than any other country.

No they don't, they don't even feature in the top twenty, they also don't give a damn about their poor people.

That sounds like utter tripe to me. Most homeless or single people probably find renting any house beyond their means and would be very happy with a flat or bedsit. Larger council properties with "extra bedrooms" are just the sort of property where shared tenancies come in to their own for "homeless or single people".

Then you don't understand the margins that some people are existing on. £20 a week might not be a lot to you but for some people it's going to stop them heating their homes and buying food.

Nice post.

I don't think people realise the power of building relationships and just being kind to each other. It's not politics and it is simplistic I know, but it's a start.

Solomon, I'm not sure that the majority of people 'dream' of capitalism. It's more a natural occurrence in life (competition), when there are more people in a society than say a tight small isolated community. This ended after the industrial revolution.

Yes they do!

Everything is about aquisition, money and status

This is ALL the mainstream media spends it's time feeding us :)

We are naturally tribal - designed to collaborate and to share

And when the financial system collapses

Community based living will evolve out of the ashes

Had it not been for this bold in the first sentence, I would have answered the rest of the post.

Perhaps it would help if I clarify :)

By 'dream' I mean that we create the world in which we live

We have a hungry, consumptive society

Because we are tricked into believing this will make us all happy

It does not

And it is ravaging our world :shakes:

We may be naturally tribal but that means we do not collaborate and share. We want to dominate and control and when that does not work out to our satisfaction we then wage war.
