Dr Afzal
I was just listening to Dr Chrisopher Phillips speaking on Radio 4. He states that if Britain leaves the EU it will become safer from terrorists. I understand others in parliament have voiced similar things. 999tigger
On what basis? There will still be home grown UK terrorists.
Super Hans
While it's true that many UK terrorists are probably home grown, by pure mathematics the more people you let in the country the more people who could decide they want to be terrorists. Especially if they're coming from certain countries. Ireland, Syria to name but two. The EU freedom of movement could let dangerous people in. sutty27
On what basis? There will still be home grown UK terrorists. On the basis that we should have better control over who comes into the country and who we can deport.

999tigger
Oh I see it means ditching the convention on human rights. Go Britain.
biotechpete
The problem is his statement goes to the heart of the problem with the EU. He said on intelligence sharing that they have to account for the "slowest and leakiest ship". There is undoubtedly an issue to what extent we can trust all EU members to look after our security. Blackbeard
According to a report on the BBC news "The removal of foreign criminals and illegal immigrants has to be cancelled in 40% of cases, a report has said. Almost 34,000 airline tickets had to be cancelled in one 18-month period - with lack of staff to escort detainees one reason, the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration report said." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-35888188 Seems we don't have enough staff. Perhaps Turkey is a bad example. Because the Russian borders are really keeping them safe. Perhaps Russia is a bad example. Because the US borders are really keeping them safe. Perhaps the US is a bad example. Because the Chinese borders are really keeping them safe. Perhaps China is a bad example. Because the Indonesian borders are really keeping them safe. Perhaps Indonesia is a bad example. Because the... Well, I think you get the point. People have this stupid blind faith in borders. If people want to come into a country illegally there is nothing you can do. Have a look at Ross Kemp's (upcoming?) documentary on illegal immigration. Add: The UK already runs its own borders, allegedly nobody can come into the UK without having passport checks etc. Except for the Irish. Which is funny in light of Super Hans' statement. The UK-Ireland border treaty is bi-lateral and nothing to do with the EU.

We have the army and soldiers could be used to help escort the detainees to leave our Country.
