Ducky1
Those who have been unhappy about road closures for the Great Yorkshire Run 10k for the last 9 years will be pleased to hear that the 10th anniversary event will be on 24th July - in Harrogate! I for one will be glad it's moving from Sheffield, some people only get the weekend off work and they don't want all the inconvenience.

I know, it's awful that other people expect you to be lightly compromised every once in a while isn't it!

And some people work the weekends and have to put up with all the weekly workers clogging up the roads taking their little bas..err..darlings on the school run every single day off So a minor inconvenience on one single day off..... a condition that is difficult to endure; suffering; deprivation; oppression: a life of hardship. 2. an instance or cause of this; something hard to bear, as a deprivation, lack of comfort, or constant toil or danger: They faced bravely the many hardships of frontier life. Nope..doesn't really match the definition of hardship does it?
monkey104
Not to worry, it's all over now. No doubt we will have the same post same time next year:)
jemson
We need more big events in the city centre. I'm pretty sure that there'll be more footfall there today than on a normal Sunday (excuse the pun!). A little bit of planning and folk ought not need to be greatly inconvenienced. EmTron
Entries for next year have already opened! So for anyone moaning about not being given enough notice. SUNDAY 9TH APRIL 2017 - SHEFFIELD HALF MARATHON. The course is likely to be the same so if you like you can note down when the roads closed this year and gauge what next year will be like. The race was fantastic! Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to all the awesome spectators! See you next year
1978
It was a fantastic run today, although that ascent to Ringinglow is a bit of a challenge. Tremendous support all along the course. Hadn't realised how many friends had turned out to give a cheer. My impression was that fewer cars seemed to have been caught out by the event, possibly as it's been better publicised this year. To any who were inconvenienced, I'm sorry, but lots of us enjoyed running and feel better for it. Lots more seemed to be enjoying giving us their support. Thanks to all of you. Yeah, it's so unusual to ONLY get the weekend off work! And to then have other people doing things, well, that really takes the biscuit.
Gricehead
Crowds were great around the course. Not sure I would have made it back without the encouragement coming down Ecclesall Road and around Hunters Bar. There must have been thousands of pounds spent on Jelly Babies...
