ohkay
Do you mean the water main? If you do it will soon drain out and stop. If not is there an isolation valve on the hot water pipe under your sink? Cos you can turn it off by that without interrupting the rest of your water supply. carosio
You haven't said where the hot water is coming from, is it from a copper storage cylinder, a combi boiler? Is the hot water tap separate from the cold tap?
biotechpete
Do you have a hot water tank or a combination boiler? There is often a valve near the hot water tank to isolate it, so you wouldn't have to be totally without water.
tlangdon12
It is very likely to be the washer. I've had exactly the same thing happen before.
