50,000 anti-austerity march central London.

..... so that makes around 65 million that didn't go on the march? :)

I wonder how the numbers speaking directly into the ear of the prime minister and cabinet compares with the number of protesters or general population, do you think its measured in thousands? Maybe just a few hundred? Possibly as little as a few dozen very rich people, but hay what do numbers matter, its not like we live in a democracy is it.......

I don't think the rich do pay tax like everyone else though do they? They use different methods and it is being suggested that many of these methods are not in the spirit of the tax collection basis promised by this government particularly and possibly for which they were voted in to power. We're not just talking about rich individuals here though, companies are more likely to be where the big loss of tax revenues occur (I would imagine). Some of these methods are even suspected of being illegal. Of course the electorate is entitled to voice its opinion and make clear the desire that they would prefer a different approach to be taken, perhaps requiring a change in the law or tax system. Of course if all those protesters were rich enough they could make a substantial contribution to the Conservative Party and bend the ears of those running the country but they don't have that kind of money with which to abuse the political system so protest and march it has to be. Of course you're really going to have to kick up a stink if you want these methods to be brought to light when the people in charge are promising to 'deal' with tax dodging while they and their families are benefitting from using just such a system.

Perhaps it isn't as fair as the Government would like us all to believe it is. Maybe that is why the protests are happening, maybe.

The wealthy and Companies may so much tax. They support the poor and the NHS and education and the police, fire service. Who do you think keeps it going?

You may pretend otherwise, but you are WRONG. You just cannot see it.

How many went on that anti Iraq war rally? A million wasn't it? Just proves that no matter how many people protest the a'holes in charge will still go ahead. Then appear on TV ten years later seeking forgiveness and "regretting" their actions.

Then why do they keep registering their companies in the Cayman Islands? Seems a silly thing to do when all your business is in Britain....unless it's to avoid tax :suspect:

Some do. Most don't. Most wealthy people pay a hell of a lot of tax. If you're a revenue employee you will know this.
