samssong
If you make claims and its full of lies inaccuracies, irrelevance and rubbish, then you cant expect people to take you seriously. ---------- Post added 23-04-2016 at 20:06 ---------- Ofc they are looking to join, its not a secret and they have been seeking to join for decades, 1987 apparently. You really dont help your case by failing to back up some of your claims and showing an obvious failure to understand the situation, then proceeding to disingenyously pass them on. More froth by you. Keep on foaming and dont let understanding get in your way. Perhaps it is your failure to understand that Turkey have invaded a member state of the EU and occupy that land today. they are also refuse to recognise the Genocide that they committed against a close neighbour even though the rest of the civilised World has asked them to apologise and recognise that despicable act . runningman1
Which state would that be? Cyprus. You should know that. And you look just as much of a moron with that emoticon thing as you would if you did it in real life.

How the hell did you cope at school college or Uni. Your argyments are so random and irrational. Stick to the point, which was about the visa issue currently being negotiated, dont go off on a tangent its bizarre, its like you have ADD. It's fair comment though to suggest it's unlikely to stay at that though.
tzijlstra
Cyprus. You should know that. And you look just as much of a moron with that emoticon thing as you would if you did it in real life. That is funny, really it is. Because anybody educated in the subject matter would know that it was Britain's reluctance to grant Cyprus to Greece that caused the problem in the first place, not to mention there was a roughly equal amount of Turks on the island at the time when Cyprus wanted to leave Empire. I'd say it had pretty much <removed> all to do with the EU and a hell of a lot with the UK, would you argue otherwise, emoticons or not? Meaning with 20 years (and quite probably half that) they will be fully paid up members of the EU club. They are in a hugely important position, politically, militarily and economically at the moment and they've got their foot in door. Do you think they'll stop at £7bn worth of aid and a few visa restrictions? Not likely. The EU wants to expand hence the overlooking of certain political practices of some Eastern European countries. Turkey will be no exception.

Turkey will be no exception. Let me correct you there, the EU demands a full 'liberal' democracy, accepting the UNHR declaration and so on. The EU is currently very annoyed with Erdogan for his continued persecution of journalists and interruption of free speech. If Turkey does not amend that attitude, there is no chance the EU will go beyond the current immigration deal, particularly because most EU states are pretty darned annoyed with Merkel's remarks on immigration. This is exactly the sort of thing that will be tempered by the absolute majority principle that allows the council (heads of state) to dismiss proposals by the Commission. Having the UK as a partner will help this cause.

I think t will become a member eventually, but its whether they have the gumption to stick it out and make sure they actually comply and are compatible human rights , economic development etc. the problem (which the frothers forget about) is that of we refuse them then the immigrant problem will be fought over Greece and the Balkans, but will then be pushing up against the rest of Europe with a domino effect and Turkey could wee side over with Russia, which denies us a useful ally and a way to exert influence in the middle east. I know you appreciate that and its a shame the frothers do not. its not something that will go away and has to be faced up to. If the conflicts stop and people go back, then they will have less bargaining power.
