andrejuan
It could be that you have a TMJ problem (the jaw hinge) A good dentist will recognise this and act accordingly. A soft night guard will only stop damage to the teeth and reduce noise, you may need your teeth equilibrating so your TMJ is not out of sync. The first step could be to fit a hard plate designed to see how you are biting together, then another hard one to put your jaw in the ideal position (anatomically) so that you no longer feel the need to "grind". It can be possible to "adjust your teeth" sometimes to the correct bite for your jaw and solve the problem, however, this is a whole different discipline to the teachings of the general dentistry course. A referral to a specialist may be the best option.
GLASGOWOODS
How exceptionally thoughtful of you. Just listen out at your next dental appointment for the dentist to say...'just a wee pear of anguish today Mr Alcoblog.'
Alcoblog
Just listen out at your next dental appointment for the dentist to say...'just a wee pear of anguish today Mr Alcoblog.' Strangely enough Mr.McWoods, I had a dental appointment this morning (honestly!). Although there was anguish in great profusion, the 'wee pear' was thankfully nowhere to be seen. Unlike the 'big bill'.

I've heard 'Bill Bill' can cause similar discomfort when used in the same way as the pear... But that may just be his bragging...
