sutty27
Even by your rather low standards - as inane comments go you get the gold sticker Just remind yourself what this thread is about before you post such hilarious comments Its about a man that couldn't control his emotions, unfortunately at the time he lost control he was driving a very large high power car and it result in a very serious accident, now if he had been driving a low power small car this wouldn't have happened. Fortunately you are only on a forum so no harm done as a result of your emotional outbursts, no telling what you would do if you was behind the wheel of a high power car and someone did something you didn't like. Tomjames
Out in 2 years do you think? He claimed he was making a last second turn down into Little Harrowden but the dash cam showed he was actually chasing another car. I know the road well as I used to live just round the corner. http://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/news/graphic-content-dangerous-driver-who-caused-crash-that-paralysed-two-young-girls-jailed-for-four-and-a-half-years-1-7404656 A Plymouth footballer was out in 3 years. 2 kids died and 2 adults disabled. It looks about right based on that? ---------- Post added 30-05-2016 at 12:49 ---------- He should certainly be banned from driving for life and be made to have some understanding of the life that those two little girls will now have because of his actions. I agree with the driving ban.

Cyclone
now if he had been driving a low power small car this wouldn't have happened. Low power would have made little difference to him turning across oncoming traffic. Possibly a smaller, lighter vehicle might have reduced the injuries, but any car today is capable of going more than fast enough to kill people, and in this case his speed wasn't even really a factor. You think he would have done what he did if he had been driving a Renault Twizy and a not a range rover, I think he wouldn't have given chance in the first place because in doing so he would have been putting his own life at greater risk. Cyclone
You speculated that he couldn't control his emotions, so why would he be rational enough to judge the danger to his own life?
sutty27
You speculated that he couldn't control his emotions, so why would he be rational enough to judge the danger to his own life? Lets assume for one moment that he did in fact give chase, it would have been more difficult for him to keep up, fear is also an emotion and he would have felt safer in his large powerful range rover than a Renault Twizy, and in the unlikely event that he kept up, and turned in front of that car the result would have been different, driving into a range rover will cause more damage to your car than driving into a Renault Twizy. Its very likely that he would have come off much worse than the people in the other car, the kids would have been less likely to have been injured. Cyclone
I agree that the result might have been different. The idea doesn't seem totally bonkers to be honest, perhaps it was just the flippant way you made it that seemed insensitive. Restricting young drivers to low powered vehicles has been suggested in the past, it's also pretty much how it works with motorbikes (based on how long they've been licensed rather than age), so perhaps in addition to a ban, a court should be able to order a maximum power of vehicle for a driver once the ban expires. It's a punishment and a way of mitigating future risk though, rather than a way of avoiding incidents in the first place.
