They allow the store or whoever know how many spaces there are left in the car park. So when a car parks over one, the number goes down. Tried google and no joy You go in the car park, park your car above or below one of these sensors, the display on the board as you come into car park '..... SPACES' reduces by one. Move you car away from it, the number increases. Handy at Christmas so you know to turn round before getting stuck behind somebody who thinks that sitting in the middle of the 'aisle' will magically create a space for you.
