Spain has a -1.2% annual growth rate

And how many of each are working?

Well, many Brits who go to places like Spain do so in retirement. The Polish come to the UK to work. Im not sure which is better as both contribute financially via the many different taxes paid.

However, British people have been emigrating to spain since before the 90's. The Poles have been coming to the UK only relatively recently having only joined the EU in 2004.

Genuine question..if you had a choice would you rather have the Polish workers or the British pensioners?

I have no distinction between them personally. The fact many British people have emigrated to spain somehow counters the number of Polish who have come to the UK is wrong in my opinion.

Spain also has an inordinately high unemployment rate, esp amongst teenagers.

So maybe growth isn't the main point at all. Without control of its economy, it's unable to take remedial action.

Spain's recession was due to a massive housing boom followed by a massive housing bust. That was all Spain's fault. The EU bailed Spain out afterwards.
