Being an MP - an easy job?

What do politicians earn if they don't get elected as an MP sibon?

That depends, ash.

If they are a teacher, about £37k. If they are a taxi driver, probably a bit more:wink: So that's us both covered.

La Ciccolina was a porn star, you'd need to be checking the salary for that out with Ron J.

People like this (I assume we're talking about today) could potentially work in far more lucrative fields, but choose this.

(I might agree with you though if someone is 'out-of-town' - chosen in a dead-cert winning constituency), but this wasn't the case, and isn't in many constituencies.

We don't earn much. But the benefits are AMAZING.

Being a crap, self-serving, greasy pole climbing, out of touch parasite is easy. If you had just had your benefits cut for the wrong reason and couldn't pay the rent or leccy could Osborn understand your predicament? Would he care? Could he even look as though he cared? No, no and no. It's not a Tory bashing post - skinner would find it difficult to emphasise with a struggling small business.

Not all are like that, but too many are. The sad loss of jo cox highlights this.

In the light of recent events. Are all MPs to be thought of as the lowest of the low and liars?

It is not generally the money, but their dishonesty. Just like journalists are dishonest, making up stories.

Has there been a wort time, stirring up hatred towards foreigners, Muslims, Jews, benefit claimants - that is around 50 of the country.

Its very sad what has happened to this MP, has she may well be one of the good ones, I dont know her.

Just 58 per cent of voters said the Prime Minister was doing a poor job, an all time low.

I don't think it' an easy job. Imagine being watched, judge and people having opinions about you even though they don't know you. It's obviously a 24hr/7 day a week job. Yes they choose to do it but doesn't make it an easy one.

I have just one question to ask. Has anyone on this forum actually worked with a politician?

I used to have pretty much similar thoughts until I went to work with a politician for a year.

I came away with a totally different perspective, intelligent, hardworking (regular 14-15hr days) good communicator, problem solver to name a few of the qualities I observed.

Like all groups of people there are good and bad ( a cross representation of society) but if you do not have first hand of someone, why make malicious comments?

Its pretty much like the stick police get. there are thousands of good hardworking police officers out there who's efforts are besmirched by the sins of past and present high ranking officers.

When you say basic? It's the pay. Expenses are just that - expenses.

Well, that's what they should be, but a large portion of our MPs have demonstrated how readily they will abuse the system for their own gain.
