DnAuK
Will it now be a coronation? Just having that debate here. I'm not sure it can be. The Tory membership will want a vote. Whether that vote is simply 'Do you want Cruella DeVille to be PM or not' is debatable. Maybe they will have to re-run the whole thing. Boris could be in after all! Radan
Well it seems Leadsom is about to pull out of the contest anyhow. Now that might be, as she suggests, down to abuse, or it could be that the pulls of Tory members have here losing by around 67% to 33%. Save your powder for a battle you can win. Best news since Brexit. May the Remaininator for PM. Whoop!! Now Brexiters, don't start spitting your dummies out like you have been saying to us for weeks. Ha Ha bloody ha. Eater Sundae
Leadsom says she's pulling out because May is strongly supported, and she wants the party and country to not be in limbo while the conservative party sorts itself out. She hasn't blamed abuse etc for deciding to pull out.

Why not let's pretend the referendum never happened?

May in, brexit done, member of eea (all the EU none of the say). Done.

alchresearch
Confirmed 12:26 on the BBC: Andrea Leadsom quits Conservative leadership race http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-36763208 She also said a nine-week leadership campaign at such a "critical time" for the UK would be "highly undesirable". More like she's bound to put her foot in it even more over the course of the nine weeks, handing it to May on a plate! This quote is also interesting: A source close to the energy minister told BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg "the abuse has been too great" for Mrs Leadsom during the contest. Are our MPs really that thin skinned and vulnerable to abuse, or was she really not that good a candidate? Angela Eagle has recently suffered some shocking homophobic abuse because she dared to challenge Corbyn, but it hasn't stopped her. foxy lady
Best news since Brexit. May the Remaininator for PM. Whoop!! Now Brexiters, don't start spitting your dummies out like you have been saying to us for weeks. Ha Ha bloody ha. Funnily enough I was unaware that Brexiters were spitting out their dummies. That seems to have been the domain of a few of the remain camp who haven't yet worked out that their side lost the referendum. And just in case they started to get their hopes up...http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/theresa-may-brexit-means-brexit-conservative-leadership-no-attempt-remain-inside-eu-leave-europe-a7130596.html:clap: Which is why she had the support of 2/3 of the party membership even before Leadsom pulled out. Berberis
How very Communist. An election with just one candidate:cool: Are Communism and Democracy mutually exclusive or are you thinking of a Dictatorship? You know, like how Brown took the crown from Blair.
