I would imagine that for the ground aspect of a conflict, NATO forces would want to mainly come at Russia from Europe probably through Ukraine and Poland. In anticipation of this the Russians would probably pre-emptively invade Poland and Ukraine to take the fight to NATO and have the Battle there instead of in Russia.
