We weren't members or anything but we never got questioned about drinking in there. It would've been in the late 50's. There would be a number of somewhat inebriated ex-service Polish kombatantów walking (a little unsteadily) down both sides of the road, conversing loudly in Polish with each other across the road through the late-night traffic.
