The referendum has split both parties.

it has certainly split the tories, labour not so much.

the settled will of the labour party has been pro-europe for a couple of decades.

the current split in the labour party is a resurfacement of the centre-left, hard-left battle which almost destroyed it in the 80s.

whether the party splits or not depends on corbyn. it seems there will be a leadership challenge, if he stands and wins then i cant see any alternative but a split. if he resigns or loses then the party stands a chance of survival.

corbyn may get the socialist worker types all excited but that wont provide a labour government which ultimately should be the aim of the labour party.

How so? Say all those MPs walk away from Jeremy's Labour and create a new party. Does that require them all to stand in by-elections for that new party? Against Corbyn's Labour? Well that would split the Labour vote for that seat, would it not? Letting in the Tories or another party. For the sake of argument let's call the new party the SDP2.

Or, they could abandon Jeremy and cross the floor, which doesn't require by-elections.

So JC will be all on his own. Or, based on the no confidence vote at best he might have 40 buddies. You can't have a effective opposition if there's only 40 of you, can you Banjo?

Come 2020 the Labour vote will still be split between JC's Labour, SDP2 and those 'Labour' voters sticking with UKIP.

How is that good for improving the chances of a Labour Government exactly?

In the short term no.....in the long term yes

I asked you how a split in the Labour Party, similar to the Gang of 4 and SDP would increase the odds of a 'Labour' Government when it's natural effect would be to split the Labour vote.

Or do you think there will not be a split?

Calm down Radan mate, you sound a little tetchy, have you had a stressful weekend, i didnt really think post 504 needed a reply, sorry if you thought it deserved one, i have now corrected that,

where is the laughing at other people that you mention..???

Yes i think there will be a split, a clear out is needed, they are obviously in the wrong party.. i also think they will stop Corbyn getting on the ballot....

You didn't address whether you think a split in the party will lead to a split in the vote. How would that be a good thing?

a split in the party will be a spit in the vote, its not a good thing, but that is how it will go, what is the alternative, obviously most of the Labour MP's are in the wrong party

How is a split in the vote good? Means the Tories are more likely to win those seats because there is a split Labour vote! In 2020 JC will be 71. He won't run in a GE again in 2025.

Did I say you were laughing at people on here? Dismissing their posts with nonsense, and non-replies certainly. Like Foxy's.

I don't want to hear your answers actually. I'll wait until less naive people make posts...
