The consequence thread (Brexit)

Recommended Posts

That's already happening.

I came into the office today. The work we are in, most of our business is with the EU. For that to happen, we must be within the EU otherwise clients are just not interested - they need us to be within the EU area for legal and regulatory reasons.

My people were very nice. They knew what was happening. They were all quite reasonable about it. No one had any bad words to say and no recriminations as I made 37 people redundant as they cannot move to the new offices in Germany.

That's the stark reality. All you people who voted to leave - you've chosen a narrow path, a mean ill defined path delineated solely by your bigotry, racism and xenophobia. You've made your bed of nails, I hope it's comfortable for you but I fear it won't be.

Me I'm lucky. I can move. I will move. But many wont, or be unable to. Already the UK has lost a quarter of it's value. It'll only get worse. What will you do when it runs out and it's nice being stuck off the shores of a cold unloving continent? Come running asking for help?

Don't expect any. I doubt Europe will be in the mood.

Given we are still in the EU for a minimum of two years (if it survives that long) canning everyone the morning after seems a tad hasty given it might be totally unecessary?

Some people never learn ............. talk of an economic impact .... blah blah blah .... the real impact has been the constant erosion of the quality of life for decades. Since the mass immigration started on whatever grounds ordinary people have had their lives adversely affected.

It has been the cities and in particular the housing estates that have been hit hard by the unworkable dumping of foreign nationals, without adequate support, into those communities. Ghettoes have come to Sheffield. A city that voted to leave.

Fortunately, still a majority, those born here have seen first hand the problem whatever their own ethnic origin or colour might be. We in Sheffield are a multi- racial society and people from all backgrounds see the real problem. That is a dictatorial unaccountable Europe. The consequence of membership being no control over law making.

The economy, the Footsie, swings up and swings back down. Lawson dumped us right down, black wednesday, blue Monday, stock market crashes, banking crashes, all come along regularly. Fear factor didn't work pre-vote and it won't work now.

We're out.

Move on.

My average contract with a customer is either five or ten years.

Leaving is required - right now - to ensure that we can continue to take on new business.

It will be interesting to return to this sour grapes consequences thread in the months and years to come.

That is why I started it. Nobody knows what the consequences will be. The immediate impact is pretty sour already.

I think they need to change the law via parliament? They are not just EU laws, but are UK laws which we were told to implement?

Which they will do if it suits their mates in big business. There's no powerful green lobby in this country, just a bonkers austrailian Green Party mp. There's no EU keeping tabs on our rivers and coastline. We have laws that will changed because there will be nothing to stop them.

And you think the drawbridge will rise and all those immigrants will be turfed out or at least stop new ones coming in?

Let's see how that works out.
