tzijlstra
One that seems highly probable (although by no means certain) is a second Scottish independence referendum. Nicola Sturgeon has been saying as much this morning [LINK] After the unpleasant events surrounding the Brexit vote, I wouldn't like to bet against the Scots choosing to leave our Union this time around. And who could blame them? Sounds from Northern Ireland and Ireland are pretty similar. As I stated, we are heading into a period of enormous uncertainty, no decision on who is the Prime Minister, contradicting sounds from the victors of the referendum... This ain't over til it's over. Penistone999
A fantastic Quote from Donald Trump. " The people of Britain have taken back control of their country " spot on Donald.
Blackbeard
On the BBC news site just now. "Morgan Stanley looks to move 2,000 London staff Posted at 13:45 BBC business reporter Joe Lynam reports... Sources within Morgan Stanley say it has already begun the process of moving about 2,000 of its London-based investment banking staff to Dublin or Frankfurt. And it has a taskforce in place. The jobs which would be moved from the UK would be in euro clearing but also other investment banking functions and senior management. The American investment bank needs to avail of the passporting system which allows banks to offer financial services in all countries in the EU without having to establish a permanent base in that member state. The president of Morgan Stanley, Colm Kelleher, told Bloomberg two days ago that Brexit would be “the most consequential thing that we’ve ever seen since the war”. Obelix
Morgan Stanley are moving 2000 workers out of the UK. That's those that will move and are not being made redundant. 2000 high earners. That's about oooh finger in the air, a tax take of £20k each. So £40m a year loss in income tax. In terms of money to the economy as well, triple that figure. That's one bank. Airbus are almost certainly going to stop investment in. That's a lot more than 2000 jobs. Rest of the banks will be doing the same. They all have offices with empty space and will take perhaps a week to move people. You might not like them but they drop an awful lot of money into the economy. London.. Leeds.. Manchester.. York - all voted remain. Spot the areas with the high tech jobs scene with people comfortable working with others from different cultures..... Eater Sundae
I wouldnt call burying rubbish as an expensive way of getting shut of it . It TAX that makes it expensive and leads to fly tipping. Taxes were brought in to try and alter behaviours to reduce likelihood of polluting rivers and watercourses or generally polluting the environment by making better treatment a possible option from a financial point of view. Or to alter behaviours to stop creating the pollutant in the first place. Without this, governments would be free to screw up the environment for years to come - both their own and their neighbours. Guest
We'd never lost control of our country. If we had lost control we wouldn't be able to take it back would we? In a way I agree with what you're saying here, but we have been in a long process of incrementally giving it away, but thank god we've got out before its too late. We must have lost something to, as you say, take it back.
Quik
Well just finished lunch in the regent quarter round the corner from the Guardian in Kings X and it was like a zombie movie. 100s of islingtonites used to telling the plebs how its going to be in a state of shock wondering what the hell just happened. Paybacks a bitch.

A friend of mine worked for ABN AMRO in the Netherlands, rumours that Lloyds and several other big UK banks were sniffing around for a takeover (It is still in the State's hands post bailout) started a few months ago. I won't be surprised to see that happen soon, they relocate the HQ to Amsterdam and Bob's your uncle. Of course the 'socialist' outers are just going to decry this as 'corporate bullying' or whatever nonsense, the simple fact is that an economy that loses high-revenue business like this is going to struggle.
