The consequence thread (Brexit)

The shares that I bought a month before the referendum are up 15% and 20% for those bought the day after.

I am sure that there are lots of negatives to vote leave, but at least all of those that thought that the stock market would jump back; have you all made a mint ;)

Made a few thousand trading ETFs. Silver mainly. Over £1500 in one trade almost immediately after the referendum.

My research in this area is experience over the last 30 odd years, trying to get tradesmen for my house, my shop and the 2 flats over it, plus talking to friends, relatives, work colleagues etc. I can`t honestly believe that anyone would dispute that it`s very difficult to find a decent tradesman, particularly one who shows any great enthusiasm to get the work. Actually, we had some doors and windows fitted recently, he was reasonably professional and keen to get the job (if anyone wants his number PM me), but the fact he stands out rather proves my point. The point being there`s a shortage of tradesmen in the country, so what do we do ? Make it harder to get any in from abroad. To me that`s crazy.

Addition, the forth plumber never turned up, when I phoned him he said he was busy and couldn`t make it today (though he never phoned me to say, a bit discourteous/unprofessional methinks......), but he "can`t do the job till October anyway". Where are all these Polish plumbers when you want one ? ! ?

Not sure, but the point is only one of the three builders he contacted even bothered to turn up. That tells its own story.

maybe if you didnt want to pay peanuts you would get someone to do it :hihi:

I don`t think you quite understand, not one of the plumbers has even got back to me with a quote. But, having said that, in the past even after I`d accepted quotes I`ve still regularly been messed about. If any tradesman gives a quote they should give treat that customer the same as any other, even if they subsequently realise they`ve quoted low, that`s their error.

You still on about this? Bloody hell. :hihi::hihi:

I think it`s very relevant, bearing in mind most people agree that immigration was the biggest single factor in the referendum. And, one assumes, those who aren`t in favour of it take that view because they think "those immigrants are taking out jobs". This is just proving that`s totally incorrect.

I think a lot of people were more concerned with the effect immigration is having on public services, the fact that they allow people to come when the infrastructure is not in place for the increase in population. I read an article that said Germany are sending 3000 people to Crete, think how the people there must feel knowing all these people are going to arrive. I can't imagine they have the infrastructure to cope with an influx of that size.

Owen Smith has said he will try to stop Theresa May triggering official EU exit talks unless she offers a referendum on the final Brexit deal or agrees to call a general election to approve it.

Don't mention JC though (not Jesus Christ, although he has as many followers) otherwise this thread will also be closed.

I can remember when they announced that Sheffield was to be a major destination for refugees (can`t remember where from, was it Somalia ?) and there were many people rather concerned about it. To me, just so long as the money was sent from central government to cover their benefits (rather illogically refugees aren`t allowed work as far as I know) I concluded that was could be a good thing, that`s money going into the local economy remember.

He must be bonkers or in fact is a lunatic.... (a play on his words)

Why would she need to call a general election to approve it especially as we now have fixed term parliaments? Its the Government that will implement it and May is only its leader.

Sounds like Mr Smith is desperate for votes but wants to commit political suicide at the same time.
