Gamston
You would think if you are going to do a coup, then it would be planned properly and you had enough support..... According to an analyst on SKY News this morning, the coup would have been a success, if we still lived in the 1980's. This coup failed because there are far more News networks nowadays and there is also the internet. Erdogan managed to use modern technology to get his message out to the people of Turkey. Not much different that it wold have been a success if things had been different..... poor planning, hence the result. They didnt even get hold of Erdogan. petemcewan
Is there not a move to put forward legislation so that the perpetrators -if found guilty of treason- can be executed ?
WestTinsley
The timing of that coup is quite interesting. Just after a change in Erdogan govts position towards Russia,Syrian Govt etc., - Plus therehas been less cooperation between Turks and all the Rebel/Jihadist groups fighting in Syria. Some suspect Saudi Arabia and 1 or 2 other regional govts were behind the main coup plotters..
