Most of 'the West' has officially recognised the Armenian genocide as such long ago. See this map, which shows official government-level recognition in dark green, and unofficial recognition by political parties and local-only government in light green.

 

There were (and still are) big tensions between Germany and Turkey after the German Parliament recognised it officially on 2 June this year.

 

On 1 July this year, France amended its 2001 Law (officially recognising the Armenian genocide) to make denial of that genocide an offence punishable by prison. So, same regime for Armenian genocide denial as for Holocaust denial.
