Stonks
Yesterday I got a text from Tesco O2 informing me of the cost of my latest phone bill, it was about £10 : 00 more than normal. When I rang Tesco customer care they were most helpful and told me I was being charged £4 : 50 per week for a text from a company called "Win with Fun". Apparently I had signed up with them in order to enter a draw of some kind, I definitely have not signed up for anything. Tesco gave me the companies phone number which I rang, they say I opted to join their scheme, if I did I was conned somehow because I do not do things like that. Anyhow, they immediately stopped my "membership" but insist I had signed up with them. Watch out for any text with numbers 63003 or probably similar. Immediately after speaking to the con company I rang Offcom, they took details and then referred me to "phone pay plus". Phone Pay Plus took quite a few details and will get back to me. When I get any news I will post another thread. The company who has conned me has not yet heard the last of this incident. WATCH YOUR MOBILE PHONE BILLS. psynuk
I got an odd one a few days ago, two phone calls from 07973100123 came up as named contact from my phonebook with my sons name so I immediately knew it wasn't him. scam number, a callback scam apparently. But I don't know why or how it was assigned contact...
dutch
I was browsing online on home PC a tiny little search for what modern Combi Boilers are on the market. Two hours later the phone starts ringing telling me about all sorts of half price plumbing scams. Big brother is watching you.
geared
The regulation on this stuff is so incredibly loose and open to abuse it's ridiculous. All they have to do is 'say' you signed up for xyz and that allows them to send you messages and charge whatever they like every week??? Total rubbish, it's just a system setup for scammers. Lex Luthor
A friend of mine thought he was doing a Tesco survey online with the option to be entered in to a 'prize draw' at the end. He clicked at the end for entry in to the prize draw at 4.50 cost to him which then the company took that he was now a member and would basically take 4.50 out as and when they wanted. He had no idea this was happening until he got his bill at the end of the month. He contacted his network provider who provided them with the company's details, emailed them, and organised payment to cease but a refund was only available by scanning a code they texted, at a local post office! This is not acceptable and legislation is needed urgently to stop this.
Revel
These "scams" used to be very popular a decade or so ago when the internet was first accessible on mobile phones. You must have unknowingly replied to a text message sent by this number, or completed some sort of form handing over your details. Be very careful when entering prize draws, downloading MP3s, downloading and watching porn, etc. Always read the small print.

The legislation is so open to abuse you don't 'need' to ever have had any contact with them.
Berberis
I would go back to Tesco Mobile and state you had receive "No Advance notice" and did not sign up for this service. This angle is used for indemnity claims on card charges and may also work for your mobile bill.
dutch
At least ask or proof that you consciously signed for it. Some of them cannot supply that proof and have to return the money when you ask for it.
