vincentb
Yep, they got the development plans approved by the council nearly two years ago. The building design drawings look fairly pleasant, it should slot into the area quite well: https://planningapps.sheffield.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=N1CPX3NYFY000 https://goo.gl/maps/wbJVSJhDo2k

Fudbeer
In fairness other than a segment of the student population I doubt many of the local community have visited the South Sea for many years. I have little doubt that the last tenants dedicated a lot of their time and effort into making it work but its not easy particularly with so much competition and cheap drinks on offer locally. I suspect the place would have needed some serious investment at some point in the near future without which closure was only a matter of time. Bilge
Seems to be opening up as a bar/restaurant. Notice about licensing on the door dated Nov says something like application by 'Blues Bar Ltd' and has been painted. I could also see builders doing work in the upstairs bit. Maybe it'll re-open for xmas. Good luck to them. ---------- Post added 09-12-2016 at 07:13 ---------- Facebook page shows photos of the refurb etc: https://www.facebook.com/BluesSheffield/ Caribbean food. Guest makapaka
Good news this if it comes off. There's already a Morrisons Sainsbury's and Tesco in broomhill so the last thing it needed was a spar or something to add to the contingent. Hopefully they can make a success of it as the south sea was very up and down and mainly down in my lifetime. Sounds like a different concept altogether though so best of luck to them.
