El Cid
NHS consultant paid £375,000 in overtime. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-36898881 Where is the story in a worker being paid extra for overtime? If it was a football player or a FTSE director it would be perfectly normal.

This is not about the amount this one consultant was paid, its about the chronic understaffing in the NHS for consultants. The actual average overtime in the NHS for Consultants is approx £13,000 also. Its not poor media coverage if you don't read the entire report. But that was not the story, so the article is poor. £89k annual pay for a consultant, too low, perhaps that should be the story?

The story is the NHS consultant's overtime was funded with taxpayers' money, just like payments of £600 in overtime for a 4 hour shift are. I would say that was the reason for the story, but its a poor reason. A shortage of consultants should have been the headline.
