BHRemovals
years ago they spent millions regenerating, the canal basin, it's a dump now. I hear the next big phase is going to be the old market area, but I agree, they should make sure that that tenants are going to come. Rumour has it that the main Chinese investor only agreed to put his money hear, because HS2 was coming. Sunds like he was badly advised.
Anna B
The problem with the canal basin is that it's cut off from the city centre by a very busy 4/6 lane road that takes an absolute age to cross, and no parking. Also no events, nothing going on there, so why would you bother? It's a shame, but it was badly planned from the start.
Mister M
Where Sheffield is concerned, there is a fine line between truth and satire... http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/society/everywhere-to-become-luxury-student-accommodation-2015040196964 Thanks for the link to the article - gave me a laugh

Birmingham's canal basin is now thriving because they built a large underpass to access it and lots of businesses flocked there. Sheffield's canal basin is criminally underused. More empty office space when HMRC relocate to Leeds in 2020.
