LeMaquis
Cancer Research on Ecclesall Road is selling Christmas Cards. I bought mine in January. ---------- Post added 22-08-2016 at 17:29 ---------- Xmas is not really all that Christian. Cromwell and the Roundheads abolished it, for a few years at least. The celebration of the birth of Christ has nothing to do with Christianity? Okey dokes.
Jeffrey Shaw
That bloke called Jesus has a lot to answer for. Why? He was not a Christian but a Jew; and he did not invent Xmas- that came some centuries later. ---------- Post added 23-08-2016 at 17:00 ---------- The celebration of the birth of Christ has nothing to do with Christianity? Yes, in that Jesus of Nazareth was born- obviously- but not on 25 December, not in 0 AD, and not as a Messiah. Hence not connected with Xmas. Christ Mass....Christmas! Ipso facto Christ is connected to Christmas.
LeMaquis
....not in 0 AD...... For once you're right but only because 1 AD followed 1 BC. ---------- Post added 23-08-2016 at 19:21 ---------- Are you the most anal man in the world?? Do you have to ask? samssong
That bloke called Jesus has a lot to answer for. His mam and dad must have been daft going away when all the boarding houses are full at Christmas.
Jeffrey Shaw
In Xmas the X is actually the Greek letter Chi which is the first letter of the Greek word for Christ. Christ Mass....Christmas! Ipso facto Christ is connected to Christmas. So you prove yourself wrong, as his name was: a. not Greek but Hebrew; and b. not 'Christos', which refers to a/the Messiah. Being a Jew, he would certainly not have used that eponym. Hence no connection with Xmas. QED.
