One Corbynista told Owen Smith “You’re in the wrong party!”. When Smith pulled him up on that, condemning it as abuse, the man was genuinely aggrieved – “How is that abuse?” That, in the end, was the most telling moment – the man meant it, he really didn’t think that calling Owen Smith a Tory was in any way wrong. That is what the Labour Party has come to under Corbyn’s leadership. It is why he must go, and why he almost certainly won’t.

It really is the point of no return because Smith is way to the left of most labour voters views. So what is the point in canvasing for votes if the party membership don't actually want their current MPs, supporters or voters on board? It has come to a crisis point when folk are booing their own MPs.

The very first question was, Smith, the party members don't like you, Corbyn, your MPs don't like you. Why not both of you resign?

Corbyn asked why, the members like him (missing the point), Smith said, why? I can win the race (he was laughed at).

But that is the point. The members don't like the MPs so why would they canvas for them? The MPs don't like corbin so why would they support him.

On the other hand if the party ended up going into an election with a leader and MPs who appealed to the membership they would not gain support from the voters they need to attract from other parties and would likely lose 20% to 30% of their existing voters. That's a great way to remain in permanent opposition.

I know. Smith made the point that to win an election Labour had to persuade Tory voters to vote Labour whereas Corbyn wants to win it by getting people voting for the first time. Smith didn't agree. Neither mentioned the elephant in the room which is 4m UKIP voters...

Considering he doesn't know the difference between a loan shark and a hedge fund, it will be interesting to see his spending plans.

I don't like any of his proposals, I think he is delusional, he is a thoeritical socialist which lacks practicality, clearly doesn't understand the meaning of live within your means and no understanding of human nature.

perhaps it was because she was anti Corbyn, and most labour voters support Corbyn ....just saying

Do they? Do you have any evidence for that?

I thought Theresa May was more popular among Labour voters than Corbyn..
