bazjea
What ever happened to cocoa? It was popular in the 50s, along with tea, Camp coffee, Oxo, Bovril, malted milk, peppermint, and the others mentioned here. Would go along with cocoa and a slice of bread and dripping for a good nights sleep. All still available.
Asaw
A drop of Port when I couldn't sleep Seemed to have this difficulty especially when Hawaii 5-0 was on.

Camp coffee was the only one I'd ever had until the coffee bars started opening in the 50s, I don't think it would go down well nowadays. As for the bovril and oxo, I can still remember my dad taking us to learn to swim at Hillsborough baths and buying us one when we'd done, it was so warming on the winter days. Great days. Yep, keeping an eye on the time On the kop at Bramall Lane to get there before the rush, you didn't get a warning about injury time then and if you went too early odds on you would miss a late goal. Going off topic most matches finished then within a couple of minutes of 4.40 now it's sometimes after 5.

Yes I remember on Saturday afternoons in the sixties, coming out of Hillsborough and a steady walk to town and in the Bull and Mouth by opening time at 5.30 lol
winks
I used to have cocoa, mixed with a little milk and sugar but made with hot water. Can't think what it would taste like now, but back in my childhood it was like nectar.
