ANGELFIRE1
Looking at the http://www.nationaldebtclock.co.uk/ site, at present we are in debt to the tune of over 1 trillion pounds. £1,756,669,101,444 and growing at £5000 per second. Can we keep giving £12 billion away in "aid" every year when we owe such an astronomical amount. Let alone give the failed EU £10 billion every year. Where will it all end, the USA owes trillions of dollars, how do you ever pay back such amounts. Angel1.

syne
It's not like a household debt, there's no pressing need to pay it back, not that it's possible really https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=gdp+of+world&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari 77 trillion world gdp 61 trillion world debt http://www.nationaldebtclocks.org/ Which would leave 10 trillion split 7 billion ways if no-one spent anything for a year, Even then those maths don't make sense because the gdp would plummet by err about 71 trillion... Not sure what the worlds governments assets equal it who's gonna be able to buy them other than banks.. So no never going to happen..

We could just pay the couple of hundred quid it costs to go Bankrupt , wipe the debts out, then start trading again as a "new " company trading under a slightly different name with new directors such as Re- United Kingdom. Its how thousands of small business get rid of debts , works a treat .

Its how thousands of small business get rid of debts , works a treat . I have a better plan. Let's empty the bank accounts of all of the tax dodgers and use that to pay back what we owe. That should yield enough to pay off a big chunk of our debt. What do you say, tax-dodging Penistone999?

Its how thousands of small business get rid of debts , works a treat . Someone else that doesn't understand who the national debt is 'owed' to.....though I appreciate you might be being facetious.
