That's correct but they have to get a signature hence he's signed it in his own name (plonker) - it's not uncommon though. That said, employed drivers (as opposed to self employed drivers) get paid purely on an hourly rate so if they can't find your address or you aren't in just drive back to the depot and don't always (in my experience) make the same effort.
