Don't they get paid per drop, so the more drops they do the more they can potentially earn.

 

That's correct but they have to get a signature hence he's signed it in his own name (plonker) - it's not uncommon though. That said, employed drivers (as opposed to self employed drivers) get paid purely on an hourly rate so if they can't find your address or you aren't in just drive back to the depot and don't always (in my experience) make the same effort.

So I finally received my parcel two days later.

 

The driver brought it over when I was at home and even asked me to sign for it - so now, I have no idea what he signed for earlier, or even how it appeared in the Yodel system that the item had been delivered two day earlier
