Berberis
Sanctions have caused a lot of this. People cannot live on fresh air. If you can't pay your rent, then you're out. And therefore homeless. What are people supposed to do? . Sanctions are for a reason though, like not turning up to sign on, not showing for a job interview, not looking for work etc. Some are sanctioned unnecessarily and that is a shame and these people should be compensated when it's proven, but the majority of sanctions are for people not adhering to their side of the contract with the DWP they sign when they first sign on. Depends on the reasons though. Often unjust and vindictive. As for compensation when proven, don't hold your breath. Takes far too long, by which time irreparable damage has been done, and people's lives ruined.

Do you have the figures for how many sanctions have been handed out and how many have been overturned? If you do, can you please provide them here.
