When I first came to Sheffield back in 1991, I remember seeing an elderly homeless man with a white beard carrying his worldly belongings. I frequently saw him wandering around town, but never sat on the pavement begging. 

He'll have long gone by now.

Meh, I voted Labour and have spent most of the last 18 years shopping at Tesco (purely because I live round the corner from my local one), that and for various reasons I fell out with Morrison's in Hillsborough Barracks in 1996.

But while there are copious food banks around,  it WILL go on drugs and alcohol alas !
