Car Boot
TV Licensing is it a scam? Absolutely. TV Licensing is just a trading name of the BBC. The BBC wants the public to believe that it has nothing to do with TV Licensing, when it controls every aspect of its operation. From collection of funding to enforcement. Janus
If each BBC prog was pay per view instead of the license fee I think there would be a massive drop in revenue for the BBC.
Car Boot
The BBC is currently spending £2.5 million of licence payers’ money hiring six PR agencies to promote the licence fee and threaten people with large fines and imprisonment for non-payment. That's a cost of more than 16,000 television licences that will not be spent on making programmes. And some people will tell you that TV Licensing isn't a scam. Usually BBC people. Ontarian1981
Why don't they have commercials like almost every other TV station in the World? This licensing is so archaic and so 1950s Britain. The cost of running it and enforcing it must be enormous, It must be a real headscratcher to a foreign observer. The thing is with the rapid advancement of the internet in recent times a lot of people are not interested in TV as they used to be. There are so many streaming sites to get the content one wants when one feels like watching it like Netflix and such like.
Cyclone
Why don't they just add it to income tax and be done with it, nobody could dodge it then.
