Trevor Eaton Electrician former work mates

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am an Investigator working for Trevor's widow Mrs Mary Eaton. Trevor worked as an electrician between 1961-2000 for several companies based in Sheffield but the work took him around the UK . He sadly passed away in 2014 with an asbestos related condition. I would like to speak with anyone who may have worked with Trevor Eaton that recalls them working in an environment where asbestos was present. Alternatively anyone else who may have knowledge that would help us confirm Trevor was exposed to asbestos dust at work.

If you can assist please contact me fred@blackthorneinv.co.uk

As a former Apprentice Journeyman Electrician (1954 -1960) I can vouch for the fact that asbestos was widely used in our trade.

It came in sheets, and we cut it, drilled it, filed it, and ground it for use in heavy industrial applications, around furnaces, ceramic baking ovens, and laboratory glass making applications.

It was also widely used as a covering for electrical cables, used in these same areas.

Thanks for response. Did you by any chance work for Wells (Electrical) Ltd?

In my short apprenticeship, I worked for F.H Wheeler (Sheffield) Ltd, heavy industrial installations, Holliday Hall and Stinson, residential, and Winstanley and Lambert, commercial.

I heard Holiday Hall and Stinson were sued for asbestos related conditions, but I don't recall anything as bad as our Wheeler's jobs at the major steelworks in and around Sheffield.
