ECCOnoob
Brexit happened, Trump happened. Neither had the backing of broadcast media. So they are now getting worried. The proles aren't buying what the BBC and Sky are selling. So expect more stories about lies on the internet and the need for it to be controlled. Since when was reporting the news about giving "backing" to something. Its about reporting facts. Brexit happened and the news reported it. Trump happened and the news reported it (....still is reporting it). A broadcaster is perfectly entitled to give opinion and predictions. Neither of which stopped any mainstream broadcaster reporting any facts of any event. I'm really not sure what your point is supposed to be. BBC and ITV news are not there to "sell" anything. They are reporting news.
Guest makapaka
I've said it for a long time - social media (used wrongly) is a real curse. It's shaping people's views and opinions massively and often without basis.
petemcewan
Social media groups -in the main-revolve around a limited variety of news stories. Sources -if included- can't always be trusted. In many cases, there's not even any sources listed to verify whether the social media news is reliable or not reliable. You can never depend on social media for the news because sometimes masses of people will believe one news story to be true, when really it is not. With social media news there appears to be no in built checks and balances to monitor the veracity. Social media can never replace true journalism IMO. El Cid
I've said it for a long time - social media (used wrongly) is a real curse. It's shaping people's views and opinions massively and often without basis. You can be shaped, or you can be an individual. I am a member of the Liberal Democrats, a friend criticised me for joining because my views would be that of the Liberal Democrats. That is rubbish, if he thought that, its him that has the closed mind. Many people will check with the fact checker web sites, channel four or radio four. Full Fact is the UK’s independent fact checking CHARITY. https://fullfact.org/ More or Less http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qshd

dangerousedd
well trump had won florida a good half an hour before the bbc reported it, you could see that they just couldn't bring themselves to believe trump had won. they didn't seem very impartial then. No, they just have higher standards than Fox News and were waiting for the result to be declared officially.
