It is not the size that matters ,is it?

Recommended Posts

It's called shrinkflation.
It is that, but the correct corporate term (IIRC) is 'discrete pricing'. Keep the price level, shrink the contents gradually.

Matchstick makers (in particular) have been at it for decades (who's gonna notice one or two less matchsticks per box every now and then ;))

Topically, today Mrs L00b is taking a tin of Cadbury Roses back to Asda for a full refund, as the packaging is a flagrant misrepresentation/misdescription of the tin contents.

I don't know if any of you have seen the latest version of the miniatures in it, but if you have, take another look at the lid (and/or cast your mind to last year's miniatures if you remember them). They're basically half-size compared to last year (and the years prior), the Cadbury Milk one amounts to little more than a 'fat Button' rather than the usual oblong.

Yes it's 'just chocolates', yes it's clearly inconsequential in the grand cosmic scheme. But if you don't get the message back to the corpos, you're only vindicating them. Then people wonder why their wallet takes them ever less far.

Good for her.

If only others would do this. Therein lies the solution, vote with your feet and refuse to accept it. Unfortunately not enough people do, and to have an affect it really needs organising into a movement.

With all else happening in the world right now, the weight of a packet of Maltesers is the least of my concerns.

It's terrible news! Very soon the ability to nip down to Weight Watchers, scatter an open bag of Maltesers on the floor, and play a live action version of Hungry Hungry Hippos, will be a distant memory :(

' Tobleronegate' is shocking! A whole way of eating that lovely nougat chocolatey mountain range will change for millions. Future generations will not experience the difficulty of having to force thumb and finger between the peaks in an attempt to break one off.

That's down to global warming.

The thinning of the ozone layer and the increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (thank you Volkswagen) mean that the Swiss mountain ranges the Toblerone bars are modelled on have shrunk, therefore the chocolate bar had to change shape in order to match.

Of course, if you feel you've been unfairly ripped off then you could always contact your MEP and request that they - oh, never mind.

A pack of 20 fags is now down to 19 fags.

I wonder how many people realise this?
