stpetre
Is this what your using. http://www.oldmapsonline.org/ Tried this but the inner Sheffield map (mid-1950's) does not have street names. Thank you Bikertec !
me-and-pippo
The last message from SheffieldHistory was that they were moving servers. Allowing time for DNS propagation and everything going well (though they have history of not doing over the years), they should be back on line soon. And I often get the impression that the person(s) who own sheffieldhistory could not run a **** up in a brewery
MrBlibble
And I often get the impression that the person(s) who own sheffieldhistory could not run a **** up in a brewery I think he's lost interest. That and he probably couldn't make pea soup in the Carlsberg canteen.
Voldy
The OS plans to which stpetre refers are the 1/1250 scale series ( part of a new survey started after WW2) and was mainly active in the Sheffield area in the first half of the 1950's. A few years ago an ambitious project was successfully undertaken by a group of Sheffield History members to obtain over 300 of these plans, also seek permission to scan and load these onto the SH website. They have proved to be a very popular source of information and you are unlikely to find these particular plans anywhere else on-line. They are a huge asset and much used. MrBlibble's post quotes the message during last week (server change), though "lost interest" cannot be true as the Owner's presence on the site in recent weeks can confirm. Lets be patient and wait for its return, it is a FREE resource.
