Jeffrey Shaw
Maybe- just maybe- the continuing votes against the EU (UK, Italy, Austria, etc- more to come?) signal the end of the entire EU project. geared
Maybe. If the EU don't sort their house out it's going to get rough. There are many positives to the EU, but the negative aspects aren't properly dealt with, mainly because one of the biggest issues is bureaucracy. pretty_big
Hopefully !! I feel a lot of joy personally at the present crashing demise of the failed "project" I'm hoping within 10-15 years they'll be nothing left but a few staunch stubborn countries. I hope Juncker and Merkel etc can't sleep at night, they'll take it to their graves that they've (nearly) killed Europe and I'm sadistically overjoyed by it ! Happy times people. The Italian referendum was about huge changes to the Italian constitution not about the EU. In Austria, not only did the pro-EU candidate win their presidential election with an greater majority than last time - the far right party blamed Nigel Farage for their defeat. It turns out that even they think the majority of Austrians favour remaining in the EU.

Of course Austria is, they're mainland Europe and have been brainwashed like the rest, the shining light is that anti EU parties are on the rise, anti EU parties winning/getting into power is just a bonus. 4England
The significance in Austria really is that Hofer's party is ahead in the polls at 35% In Italy, 5Star are tied at 30% with Renzi's party Both of these parties are real contenders and are eurosceptic. We know not to put too much faith in polls, but don't think for a second there's no appetite for Italy and Austria to exit. Not in Austria they are not - they got fewer votes than the annulled vote in May.
