blake
The UK murder rate is at it's lowest level for A LOT of years and it's a bit mysterious because nobody knows why. And there is no reason to suppose that out of that diminished number of murders that the proportion of them that are women murdered by men is any more than they are usually. Also Britain's roads are just about the safest in Europe. Safer than Germany's. Safer than Norway's. Safer than just about anywhere in the world. They've got A LOT more safe. Terrorism-related stuff is a minor risk for sure. But I don't think that has gone down in the past 20-30 years like they have.

Dardandec
Domestic abuse/violence is also a massive drain on police resources. ---------- Post added 07-12-2016 at 17:50 ---------- You think that's shocking, check out how many have been killed by cars! They're murderous things cars. I think you will find its the clowns that drive them.
Margarita Ma
Domestic abuse is an age old issue stemming from times when women were regarded as chattels to be done with as men pleased, even to the point where a judge proclaimed "A man may beat his wife with a stick no greater than the width of his thumb." This gave rise to the phrase as a rule of thumb. Can you imagine being beaten with a stick as wide as a blacksmiths thumb? Edited December 7, 2016 by Margarita Ma Puntuation. Halibut
Quite possibly the silliest premise of any thread ever. Over three quarters of female domestic homicide victims, 77% (according to the ONS for the year to March 2015) were killed by their partner or husband. Male violence against women (and indeed other men too) is no joke. Did you also know that according to fullfact.org (an independent fact checking organisation https://fullfact.org/crime/bad-and-dangerous-know-do-men-commit-almost-all-crime/ ),men commit 89% of crimes against the person and 98% of sex crimes? Can you suggest any ways we might address this issue? ---------- Post added 07-12-2016 at 18:18 ---------- Perhaps one of the reasons is that people are under severe pressure these days...men especially. If you trying to fulfil your historical role as a breadwinner and are struggling to look after your family in an insecure, rapidly changing world run by economists with no thought to people and your job is at risk...then you could take those frustrations home with you and take it out on your partner and family. That could be physically, verbally or emotionally and we are all guilty of it (women included) We need to try and ease that pressure on people...but I have no idea how. Perhaps firing a warning shot to the economists/bankers/politicians over the corrosive effects of Globalisation by using the Brexit vote was one of them... Looking closely at the way we bring up boys would be a start. Your Brexit suggestion is frankly ludicrous.
