Activity Sheffield to be axed, a good way to combat obesity?

Sheffield has a massive obesity problem and you only have to go into the city centre to see that a once proud county has now become a city of lard buckets

Once we were at the forefront of the world in making steel

Now we lead the word in the obesity league tables

So it hardly seems the brightest of ideas to be getting rid of activity Sheffield because surely by getting people active then this would reduce obesity

Is this madness?

The council will no doubt trot out the usual lame excuse and blame government cuts .

It's not a lame excuse is it. The government have implemented massive local government cuts - I'm sure they would have preferred to keep it going.

We also lead the league table in internet posts with pejorative language about other people... and this is 2016 so that's quite an achievement.

It seems to be a generic "help" service rather than just tackle obesity:

It has worked with 138 lunch clubs to support health walks across the city, secured £2,000 in funding to help youngsters in Stradbroke go on holiday, supported Darnall Forum’s bid for funding for its lantern parade festival and helped support community garden improvements in Wisewood.
