She aint a role model to be proud of! Look how she reacted when she didnt win gold to the other contestants. That werent were sportsman style and is hardly the actions of someone who is a supposed role model!

How did she react? Honest question, as I didn't see much of the Olympics.

i think all successful sports people have to make a lot of sacrifices to get where they are but the Honours System is just a joke. Rewarding people like Victoria Beckham. I think it should be scrapped. Just rich spoilt people slapping themselves on the backs and saying how wonderful they all are. We value the wrong things in this society we live in.

How many Gold Medals has Ken Dodd won ?

Here we go...

Another year and same old complaints and moaning about the honours system.

For goodness sake, the complete list is 127 pages long.

It contains a range of people from well known to not known. There are millitary personnel, civil servants, royal staff, doctors, nurses, engineers, lawyers, company officers, directors, charity workers, volunteers and yes even some well known broadcasters, actors and sportsmen.

Whether people agree with it or not. If someone has dedicated their career to a sport or had long service as a broadcaster or entertainer which has attracted thousands/millions of fans THAT IS AN ACHIEVEMENT. If someone goes and represents the country at a major sporting event and is successful, thus inspiring thousands THAT IS AN ACHIEVEMENT.

Its quite obvious that the news will always focus on the dozen or so well known people because lets be honest, that's the only people that the wider population know or give a toss about.

Joe Bloggs the charity worker might well deserve his gong but if nobody knows him outside his immediate circle and he is no different to the hundreds of others on the honours list why would they get a mention in the papers or tv reports.

It gets tedious. Every year the list comes out. No bugger reads it beyond the headline names and then whinge and moan that no ordinary people are on it. Perhaps people ought to read it then they might understand the amount and range of people on it.

Some people on here are all on getting out of bed in a morning and going out to work. heaven forbid anyone who dedicates their life to something though blood, sweat and tears and actually gets rewarded for it.Seriously, so much bitterness on here to anyone who achieves anything.

Hell! I would give Doddy a knighthood just for the show I attended.

6 hours on stage, no swearing and I nearly laughed myself sick. I was concerned for the health of my wife's elderly grandparents they were laughing that hard and long.

Such a mardy unsportsman person. Look at the way she spat dummy out when she didnt win gold. No role model in my view more like shameful

Well, aren't you nice?

Of the people nominated, she is at least excelling in her field. And you forget she did win gold in the previous Olympics. There are plenty of honoured people who got something purely for funding the Conservative party.

Nonsense, the system doesn't only recognise people you describe.

There has always been a small percentage of well known people who receive honours for sports achievements and entertainment, but the vast majority of honours are given to those who have contributed so much to charity and community work.

Congratulations to Jessica Ennis, Sheffield should be proud.

That's partly true. The system also embeds establishment privilege and undemocratic power. It rewards party donors a lot of the time as well.
