hillsbro
Hi neilf - I can just give a little information from public records. The marriages index confirms that Doris Brown married Herbert K. Schofield in Sheffield in 1940. The births index doesn't show any likely births from the marriage in the Sheffield area. Doris married Horace Yates in Sheffield in Oct-Dec 1943, and three likely children may have been Christine, born 1944, Susan, born 1949 and Gillian, born 1951, though more Yates children were born later in Sheffield, with the mother's maiden name given as Brown. The 1939 Register gives a little more detail - at that time Doris (then a shop assistant) was living with her parents Samuel and Florence, and two older brothers, at 24 Melville Road, near Broughton Lane. There is a note that Herbert was killed in action and that Doris remarried on 29 December 1943.

hillsbro
Hi neilf - there doesn't seem to be a Jennifer but there is a record of a Penelope A. Yates, born in Sheffield in Jan-Mar 1955, with the mother's maiden name Brown. I've also sent you a PM.
