With the kind of man he is, he will die in power, but it will be long after the four years he was elected for.

Before his death he will make arrangements for the role to pass to his appointed nominee.

They voted for it, they have got it.

he's already done that. And the voters have endorsed Trump's decision.

it's what the vice president is for. They are not there, to cover for the president on his day off or to be some kind of assistant or second in command. They are there to take over if the president dies or much less likely if the president resigns or is removed. That's why there is a vice president.

Naivety is an endearing trait. :)

Trump has got no support from any of the major institutions of the United States - congress, the senate, army and intelligence agencies (who dislike him even more after his visit to Langley yesterday than they did before), church, media you name it. Ironically out of all those, the US trade unions who probably just about count as a US institution, probably like Trump the most - which only serves to illustrate yet again how left-wing Trump actually is now he's decided to play politician. They have the same protectionist ideas Trump has. Bernie Sanders is going to give Trump more of a chance than a true conservative Republican will want to.

the chances of Trump not lasting his full 4 year first presidential term are higher than they would be for most presidents, but they are less than the chances that he will get re-elected, and serve the full 8 years - that is sadly the more likely probability than he will serve 4 years or less. Although there is not much in it. Each of the the past few new presidents - Clinton, Bush, and Obama - I was sure they would get a 2nd term once they'd got elected in the first place. I'm not so sure this time, but I'd still put it at greater than 50% chance Trump will get elected again in 2020. Incumbency is a huge advantage.

Only a total numbskull would bet for any suspension of the electoral process like a coup or martial law in the US when they've held elections every 4 years, even when there was a civil war going on, without fail, since 1788.
