crookedspire
I've been given Bu Trans patches for Arthritis I'm on 5 micrograms it releases that amount every hour they last for seven days it's an alternative to Morphine. What is you experience of these patches what side effects did you have I've read the instructions it would seem they can make you sick or feel sick to start with my concern is if I use these long term could they effect the heart or cause an heart problem. I struggle with tablets often the side effects outweigh the benefits so these patches seem more suitable. I've tired loads of things over the years my experience tells me things start alright but can soon go downhill.
hotrock
i have been on the 20mcg patch for around 5 years now, at one point i was on 2 patches a week as my body was absorbing the patch over 3/4 days, on a good day i am a gibbering wreck, on a bad day i am akin to a crack addict going cold turkey. my pharmacist raised the alarm when he realised i was overdosing on 2 patches, however it did make my pain more manageable Side Effects from Medication Dizziness Tiredness Confusion Tendency to fall over Difficulty in communicating Difficulty in breathing Mood swings Dry itchy skin Slurred speech Paranoia Dry mouth Memory loss ---------- Post added 31-01-2017 at 22:17 ---------- the patches are also used as a methadone replacement,
Margarita Ma
These are all questions you should have asked your doctor when they were prescribed, or you could have asked the pharmacist. You are more likely to get a range of responses from people who use these patches if you find a forum for arthritis sufferers. Try this one. It doesn't look like much but it seems to be a genuine forum Welcome to The Arthritis Forum http://www.arthritisforum.org.uk/ Welcome to the Arthritis Forum. Daven
Buprenorphine is a very powerful drug which is controlled and is on the same spectrum as morphine. It's a semi synthetic opioid and the side effects are similar to those of morphine. It can be extremely effective but can cause many problems if not monitored well by the prescriber. The OP should speak again to the prescriber for more guidance. Regards. Edited February 1, 2017 by Daven
Maddy
I've been on a 35mcg patch changed twice a week for quite a long time now. It keeps my pain at a tolerable level meaning I don't need to take as much tramadol or diazepam for break through pain now. I never experienced any real side effects although occasionally I have to cover it with a dressing otherwise it falls off. Both my GP and specialists at the pain clinic monitor my health but overall it's made a positive difference to my quality of life and allowed my pain relief regime to remain static for several years. I'm in my mid 30's and don't want to reach the end of my options any sooner than I have too. I have a very responsible job and am also a parent so it's important to me not to feel doped up. I was lead to believe that the 20mcg patch was the highest dose, and when i was placed on 2 per week, i was in fact overdosing and my pharmacist had to intervene, fast style
Maddy
Unfortunately I can't see how to post a photo to prove I have these patches here but a quick Google shows there are dosages higher than 35mcg, I can see up to 70. Obviously these medications are prescribed by someone hopefully in full possession of all your medical information. Other medication you're on might have played a part in why it was dangerous for you to be on 2 x 20mcg?
