Rock and roll how it should be made, without the fanfare - but perhaps a paisley shirt or two/

The Sheffield band makes music evocative of ‘70s swamp rock, while their boyish locks and nonchalant presence resonates with the likes of Neutral Milk Hotel. From Credence Clearwater Revival to Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan to Black Sabbath, the band’s love of classic rock with a lot of heart and soul is apparent.

All gravelly vocals, melodic – yet punchy – guitar riffs, and fluid bass lines, The Velcro Teddy Bears won the accolade of ‘Yorkshire Unplugged’ in 2012. The release of their debut EP ‘Coming Back For More’ in 2013 showcased the bands rural and country roots, however the addition of drums and electric guitars, on tracks such as ‘Summer Breeze’, has allowed them to explore the dimensions of their searing sound.

Crowned ‘Oxjam Battle of the Bands’ winners for 2014, the four-piece feel quite at home on stage, developing an aptitude for song writing and performance at weekly live music nights at the pub they run.

9.30pm, free entry.
