GOLDEN OLDIE
I can remember when I started work in the 60s, trousers were not permitted for women, nor were thick tights. Can anyone remember when the rule started to relax? Edited February 10, 2017 by GOLDEN OLDIE
jstarr
I can remember when I started work in the 60s, trousers were not permitted for women, not were thick tights. Can anyone remember when the rule started to relax? When I started work as a teacher(1972)female staff weren't allowed to wear trousers to work. That rule was relaxed around 1974 I think, but we were only allowed to wear trouser suits,no trousers and tops!Seems ridiculous now,but we didn't question it,it was just the way it was - mind you, male teachers, were expected to wear jackets and ties, the only exceptions being PE staff.Times change!
