GOLDEN OLDIE
Can anyone remember going to church dances in the 1950s like St.Patricks at Sheffield Lane Top, St. Thomas More, St.Charles and a chapel on Herries Road at Southey. My friend and I took our flat shoes in a train case for bopping!

mikeG
St. Columbas, Crosspool. I went often in the early 60's. Only once in the 50's and that was New Years Eve, 1959.
bazjea
St Aidens had a regular dance, but I forget where it was St Aidens is on City Rd just below the Cemetry, and above Granville Rd. I seem to remember that Peter Stringfellow ran them. One of his early ventures I remember going to the Memo (Owlerton Memorial Hall) in Hillsborough to the Saturday dance. The vicar used to come to check that the girls were not sat on boy friends knees. Edited February 13, 2017 by bazjea
